Throughout 2017, we are working with our interns to highlight 52 Creatives from the NEPA region. We believe creativity is a broad term that cannot be easily confined within the walls of one simple definition. We want to know what being creative means to you and how you bring that creativity to light.
Tony Brooks is our 48th #NEPACreative of 2017. Tony brings creativity to the area by educating others about the beautiful architecture of our area!
Being a two time winner of National History Day in High School, it was no surprise to any that Tony Brooks was a history buff. After serving in the 104th Cavalry, Pennsylvania Army National Guard from 1985 to 1922, Tony returned home to NEPA and fell in love with the architecture of Wilkes-Barre. He started hosting guided walking tours to enrich others minds with the structure of NEPA’s buildings. “Every building has a story to tell,” Tony says, “and hosting guided walking tours is the best way to interpret the past, present and future of Wilkes-Barre as expressed through architecture, urban design and social history.” Tony also serves on many boards and comittees that are commited to preserving the history of our area, as well as serving as a councilman on the Wilkes-Barre City Council.
