Ariell Stewart | The #NEPACreative Series | CoalCreative

Throughout 2017, we are working with our interns to highlight 52 Creatives from the NEPA region. We believe creativity is a broad term that cannot be easily confined within the walls of one simple definition. We want to know what being creative means to you and how you bring that creativity to light.

Ariell Stewart of Mountain Top, PA is our 38th #NEPACreative of 2017! She brings creativity to the area through painting.

About three years ago, Ariell was suffering from postpartum depression. She was looking for something to to calm her mind. Ariell found this outlet in painting. After five years in the yoga industry, she found that meditation during painting helped ease her mind. This outlet began to heal her through her art.

Ariell’s specialty is in Mandalas and other Buddhist symbols. In common use, “mandala” has become a generic term for any diagram, chart or geometric pattern that represents the cosmos metaphysically or symbolically. Ariell creates pieces while using meditation and energy while painting mandalas and other Buddhist symbols. “I set an intention and let my hands do the work,” she says.

Outside of her artwork, Ariell says that she doesn’t have many hobbies other than taking care of her three children. She says that her biggest inspiration are her family. Her children have instilled in her a deep appreciation for the big and small things. She says that she is so blessed to have the support of her family and that they give her the ability to do what she loves as her full time career. When asked what creativity meant to her, Ariell responded that being creative means living your life to the fullest expression and offering a piece of herself through her artwork.
